Ductile cast iron disc brake is a brake made of ductile iron material with excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Compared with traditional gray cast iron brakes, ductile cast iron disc brakes have higher strength, toughness and wear resistance, and can better adapt to high-speed, high-load braking requirements. Ductile cast iron disc brake has a wide range of application fields and is mainly used in various models such as cars, trucks, and buses to provide stable and reliable braking performance for vehicles.
What is ductile iron
Ductile iron is a high-strength cast iron material that gets its name from the structure of spheroidal graphite inside it. This special graphite form is obtained through spheroidization and inoculation treatments, which effectively improves the mechanical properties of cast iron, especially its plasticity and toughness. Therefore, the strength of ductile iron can be comparable to that of some carbon steels, and even surpass carbon steels in some aspects.
Casting process
● Raw material preparation: The main raw materials of ductile iron are cast iron and nodularizing agent. Cast iron is usually derived from recycled materials such as scrap iron and scrap steel, and nodulizing agent is an additive that can make the carbon in cast iron exist in a spherical form.
● Smelting and casting: The raw materials are put into a high-temperature furnace for smelting. The melting temperature is usually above 1400°C. During this process, a spheroidizing agent is added to make the carbon in the cast iron exist in a spherical form.
● Pour casting: Pour the molten ductile iron liquid into a pre-designed casting mold. After it cools and solidifies, take out the casting to obtain a ductile iron product.
Features
● It has higher strength than traditional gray cast iron, can withstand greater load and stress, and is suitable for high-intensity use environments.
● Due to the spherical structure of internal graphite, ductile iron has good toughness and ductility, and can withstand large impact loads and prevent bursting.
● It has a fine and uniform spherical graphite structure, which can effectively reduce wear and increase service life.
● The surface of ductile iron is covered with a dense oxide film, which can prevent corrosion and has good corrosion resistance.
