Lost foam casting is also a casting process. Some of the ball mill castings produced by our company are made by lost foam casting (also known as solid mold casting). Lost foam casting (also known as solid mold casting) combines foam models with similar sizes and shapes into model clusters, brushes with refractory paint and drying, and is buried in dry quartz sand for vibrating molding, pouring under negative pressure, gasifying the model, and liquid metal occupying the model position. A new casting method for forming castings after solidification and cooling.
 
The characteristics of lost foam castings are as follows:
 
1. The castings have fine size and shape, good repeatability and have the characteristics of precision casting.
2. High surface finish of castings.
3. The lost foam cancels the sand mold and core-making department, and eliminates the casting defects and waste products caused by core-making and core-making.
4. By not closing the box and not taking the mold, the molding process is greatly simplified and the casting defects and waste products caused by taking the mold and closing the box are eliminated.
5. The lost foam adopts dry sand molding without binder, moisture and additive, which eliminates all kinds of casting defects and waste products caused by moisture, additives and binders.
6. The lost foam greatly simplifies the sand treatment system, the molded sand can all be reused, and the molding sand preparation department and the waste sand treatment department are cancelled.
7. Sanding is very easy, which greatly reduces the workload and labor intensity of sanding.
8. There is no flying edge burr in the casting, which reduces the work of cleaning and grinding by more than 50%.
9. The reasonable shape of the gate and riser can be set in the ideal position, which is not restricted by the traditional factors such as parting, mold taking and so on, and the internal defects of the casting are reduced.
10. The negative pressure casting of lost foam is more beneficial to the filling and feeding of liquid metal, and the microstructure density of the casting is improved.
11. Combined casting, more than one box, which greatly improves the process yield and production efficiency of castings.
12. The machining allowance is reduced and the machining cost is reduced.
